Surprise offers pigeons something most West Valley cities do not: shade, water and shelter all within a few blocks. Mature trees line the older streets near the Original Town Site, the Recreation Campus holds open water year round, and thousands of homes carry deep covered patios with recessed alcoves above the columns. Those alcoves are the single most common nesting spot our Surprise crews find.
Roof design plays a part too. Much of the housing here, especially through the active adult communities, uses low-pitch S-tile with generous overhangs. The gap at the first course of tile is wide, easy to reach and rarely closed by the builder, so a bird can be fully inside the roof structure without ever touching the attic. Add a rooftop solar array and the problem doubles overnight.

A low-pitch Surprise roof puts a solar array only a few inches off the tile, creating a long shaded tunnel that pigeons will fill end to end. We screen the full perimeter with powder-coated mesh and clamp-on clips, clear out the nesting material and hardened droppings underneath, and leave your production numbers where they should be.
Retail canopies along Bell Road and out at the newer centers near the 303 give birds a covered ledge every twenty feet, and grocery entries and restaurant patios draw them in with dropped food. We install tensioned netting, stainless wire and discreet spike systems that keep entryways and dining areas clean without turning your storefront into a construction site.

Nine times out of ten it is the patio. Droppings on the furniture, a stain running down a column, or feathers on the concrete under the same spot each morning.
